Neutralöl as a Squalan alternative?

Ungelesener Beitrag von Olionerd »

Hi there, I have a good question clearly belonging to the "Öle, Buttern, Wachse" section:

There are two things I noticed after I started to apply squalan to my skin (Heikes Reichhaltige Pflegecreme). I noticed my skin seemed to start producing more sebum (T-zone started to get shiny several times a day). And got more comedones. Of course I am not yet sure if it's caused by squalan. But I am suspecting it is. I want to try Neutralöl as an alternative. Does Neutralöl also have a clear effect on sebum production? Has anyone experience/knowlegde with Neutralöl and squalan? How does it compare? (apart from the strong spreading quality and stability, for which I intend to use it)

Thanks in advance :)

B. Sheabutter, Kakaobutter, etc.
Liebe Grüße und noch einen schönen Tag :-)

Hi!
My daughter has oily skin with tendencies to acne, and Squalan never ever caused a reaction like yours on her skin.
I would say it is like Helga describes it.
It’s always the whole composition of a formulation and rarely one single ingredient.

Cheers,

It might well be coincidence that comedones showed up more then normal (normally every now and then. Now just more then average). In the months before, with almost the same ingredients, I noticed no difference in the frequency of incidence. The creams I used where high in fat% also. If it persists I can try and replace the shea. Thanks for explaining about stearic acid and palmitic acid in relation to comedones Helga.. I had read it before, but lost it again :)
